Surveying Technology & Tools We Use

At Global Land Surveying, accurate results start with experienced professionals — and the right technology for the job. Our team uses advanced surveying technology, 3D laser scanning equipment, GNSS systems, robotic total stations, drone mapping tools, LiDAR sensors, and industry-standard processing software to collect, verify, and deliver reliable survey data.

From commercial site development and ALTA surveys to topographic mapping, construction staking, aerial mapping, and 3D scanning, these tools help us work efficiently while maintaining the accuracy our clients depend on.

Field Equipment for Accurate Survey Data

Trimble X9 3D Laser Scanner

The Trimble X9 is a high-performance 3D laser scanner used for reality capture, as-built documentation, and complex site conditions. Trimble describes the X9 as a versatile scanning solution for surveying, building construction, rail, tunneling, mining, and other demanding environments.

For GLS clients, this helps support detailed point cloud data, accurate existing-condition documentation, and efficient scanning workflows for commercial and development projects.

Trimble X7 3D Laser Scanner

The Trimble X7 is a high-speed 3D laser scanning system designed to simplify field scanning with features like automatic calibration and in-field registration.

This tool helps GLS capture detailed site data for existing conditions, building documentation, and projects where traditional measurements alone may not provide enough context.

Trimble R12i GNSS System

The Trimble R12i GNSS System helps surveyors collect precise location data, including in challenging field conditions. The R12i includes IMU-based tilt compensation, which allows surveyors to measure points while the survey rod is tilted, improving efficiency in the field.

For GLS, this supports accurate boundary, topographic, construction, and development-related survey work across a wide range of Texas job sites.

Trimble S7 Robotic Total Station

The Trimble S7 is a robotic total station designed for efficient surveying, including single-user operation. Trimble describes the S7 as a feature-rich robotic total station built to improve field productivity.

This equipment supports precise measurements for layout, construction staking, boundary work, and other surveying services where accuracy and repeatability matter.

Drone and Aerial Mapping Technology

DJI Matrice 350 RTK

The DJI Matrice 350 RTK is an enterprise drone platform designed for demanding commercial operations, with improved transmission, battery systems, safety features, and payload capabilities.

For GLS, this platform supports aerial mapping, site documentation, and data collection for larger properties or development areas where drone-based surveying can improve speed and visibility.

DJI Zenmuse L2 LiDAR Sensor

The DJI Zenmuse L2 combines LiDAR, a high-accuracy IMU system, and an RGB mapping camera to help capture accurate geospatial data from DJI drone platforms. DJI notes that when paired with DJI Terra, it provides an all-in-one workflow for 3D data collection and high-accuracy post-processing.

This tool is especially useful for aerial LiDAR, terrain mapping, vegetation-heavy sites, and projects that benefit from detailed 3D surface data.

GeoCue TrueView GO SLAM Scanner

The TrueView GO is a handheld SLAM LiDAR system designed for reality capture in areas where GNSS signals may be limited or unavailable. GeoCue describes the TrueView GO as a handheld scanning solution that supports indoor and outdoor 3D mapping workflows.

For GLS, handheld SLAM scanning can support fast data capture in buildings, tight spaces, complex interiors, and areas where traditional tripod-based scanning may be slower to set up.

Office Software and Survey Deliverables

Trimble Business Center

Trimble Business Center helps surveyors transform field data from GNSS receivers, total stations, laser scanners, mobile mapping systems, drones, and other tools into usable client deliverables.

GLS uses this type of survey processing software to organize field data, support quality control, and prepare accurate outputs for clients, engineers, builders, and development teams.

Trimble RealWorks

Trimble RealWorks is designed for point cloud processing and analysis. Trimble states that RealWorks can register, analyze, model, and create deliverables from point cloud data.

This supports GLS’s 3D scanning and reality capture workflows by helping turn raw scan data into usable information for planning, documentation, design coordination, and existing-condition review.

Autodesk Civil 3D

Autodesk Civil 3D is widely used in civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure workflows. For GLS, Civil 3D helps support survey drafting, surface creation, contours, site data preparation, and coordination with engineers and design teams.

Autodesk ReCap Pro

Autodesk ReCap Pro is used to create and manage 3D models from laser scans and photographs, visualize point clouds and meshes, and support real-world building and infrastructure projects.

This helps GLS process and review reality capture data so clients can better understand existing conditions, site details, and project environments.

Why This Technology Matters for Your Project

Modern surveying tools help GLS provide more than measurements. They help create better project visibility, cleaner documentation, and more useful data for decision-making.

Depending on the project, our technology can help with:

  • Capturing existing conditions before design or construction begins
  • Creating accurate point clouds and 3D site documentation
  • Supporting commercial due diligence and development planning
  • Mapping larger sites more efficiently with drone and LiDAR tools
  • Reducing return trips by collecting more complete field data
  • Coordinating with engineers, architects, developers, builders, and title professionals

While technology is important, it does not replace experience. GLS combines advanced tools with decades of surveying knowledge to help clients move forward with confidence.

Surveying Technology Backed by Texas Experience

Global Land Surveying has served clients across North Texas and beyond since 2002. Based in the Dallas area, our team supports residential, commercial, construction, development, and specialized surveying projects throughout the region.

Whether you need an ALTA survey, topographic survey, construction staking, 3D scanning, aerial mapping, or development support, GLS has the tools and experience to help get the job done accurately.
